Expanded PTFE – biomaterial for medical technology
The production of ePTFE is essentially done by the extrusion and subsequent expansion of PTFE. The resulting microporous structure of fine, interconnected fibrils gives the material special properties that make it predestined for use in medical applications.

The use of ePTFE in medical products is diverse and ranges from artificial blood vessels to endovascular products and special patches for the closure of hernias. In guided bone regeneration in dentistry, ePTFE is used in the form of special barrier membranes to rebuild receded alveolar ridge bone.
